Taoyuan International Airport has entered its peak summer travel season. Statistics from the airport authority show that among the prohibited items found in checked luggage in the first quarter of this year, 70% out of a total of 14,226 cases were power banks, followed by lighters (16%) and lead-acid and lithium batteries (12%). To prevent short circuits and fires in the cargo hold that could delay emergency response, items such as power banks, spare lithium batteries, lead-acid batteries, and lighters must be carried on one's person or in carry-on luggage, and are not allowed in checked baggage. Only one non-blue-flame lighter may be carried on board.

To save precious time, none of the above items should be placed in checked luggage. Otherwise, when checking in at the airline counter and your luggage goes through the X-ray machine, it will have to be opened for inspection, which wastes time and causes inconvenience. In addition, products containing lead-acid batteries—such as the popular portable rechargeable fans in summer, as well as LED lights, flashlights, and electric mosquito swatters—are not allowed on board unless they are certified.
