Typhoon Hato (international name: Hato), the 13th typhoon and currently classified as a mild typhoon, has prompted sea and land warnings. Affected by the typhoon and its outer circulation, there is a high likelihood of localized heavy rain or torrential rain. The eastern half of the island faces a high probability of torrential rain.The area south of Chiayi and southeastern Taiwan will experience scattered showers, while other regions, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will have brief showers or thunderstorms.

Starting from the morning of August 22, average wind speeds in the southern Taiwan Strait will strengthen to force 9–10, with maximum gusts reaching force 12. The seas off southeastern Taiwan will see average winds increase to force 8–9, with maximum gusts up to force 11. Ships and maritime activities should exercise extra caution.
