The popular Japanese ramen shop Menya Itto has been open for two months, but on the 24th, President Sakamoto Yukihiko announced on a Japanese website that the quality currently offered at the Taiwan branch does not meet customer expectations. In order to deliver a service that satisfies guests, it has been decided to temporarily suspend operations on the second floor and operate only the first floor. To accommodate the reduced seating capacity, the Taiwan store will implement a numbering system to reduce customer waiting times.
Menya Itto will use this period to thoroughly re-implement staff training and strive to adjust the store into one where customers can feel happy. The Menya Itto Taiwan branch also stated on Facebook that the temporary suspension of the second floor is not a form of hunger marketing, but rather an effort to ensure both service and food quality are properly managed and any shortcomings are addressed.
Menya Itto explained that after the temporary closure of the second floor, only the first floor will be in operation. To reduce waiting times, the numbering system used during the trial operation will be implemented. Customers are encouraged to arrive at the designated check-in time, though due to varying dining durations, some waiting may still be required after check-in.
The rules for issuing numbered tickets are as follows:
First phase issuance time: 11:10 AM (160 tickets issued, 1 per person)
Second phase issuance time: 5:00 PM (120 tickets issued, 1 per person)
Tickets may be collected by proxy, but only one ticket per person.
A missed number will be held for a 20-minute grace period; after that, it will be considered forfeited.
If you arrive within 15 minutes of your missed number, you will be placed at the end of the queue for that time slot.
