Tokyo’s must-visit Tsukiji Market, known as Japan’s kitchen, is confirmed to relocate to Toyosu Market in October. The old shops from the former inner market of Tsukiji will all move here. Toyosu Market features 140 shop restaurants, a shopping street, wholesale fish and produce markets, experience classes, and more. In the future, it will also include hot spring facilities, bringing new tourist crowds to Tokyo.

Visitors wishing to go to Toyosu Market can take the Yurikamome Line, operated by Tokyo Waterfront New Transit, departing from Shimbashi, and get off directly at “Toyosu Market Station.” Toyosu Market opens on October 11.

The relocation of Tsukiji Market refers to the inner market, where most vendors are concentrated. The outer market, which houses the most shops, will remain at its original location. Therefore, whether you go to Tsukiji or Toyosu in the future, you’ll still be able to enjoy fresh and delicious seafood. In addition, the Tsukiji outer market has been integrated into a new commercial facility called “Tsukiji Uogashi.” This three-story building covering about 2,000 tsubo (approx. 6,600 square meters) houses 60 shops. It not only continues Tsukiji’s tradition of fresh seafood supply but also presents a new look.

During the day, Tsukiji Uogashi still functions as a market with various seafood restaurants. At night, it transforms into a trendy izakaya spot. The third floor is the Uogashi Dining Hall, where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood dishes.
