50 Sanheyuan Courtyards Get a Makeover — Light-Up Installations Become New Hotspot for Photos

Every year during the Lantern Festival, the Luzhu NS Community in Miaoli hosts the Good Fortune Art Festival, which features unique lantern parades and invites prominent cultural and artistic groups to participate, celebrating traditional settlement culture alongside an arts and culture feast. Additionally, there is a three-month-long installation art exhibition that transforms over 50 local Minnan-style sanheyuan courtyards into part of the installation art, creating a new must-visit photo spot.

The Luzhu NS Community is located next to the Toufen Industrial Park in Miaoli. It has had a history of cultivation since the Qing Dynasty, boasting over 300 years of heritage. The community preserves nearly 50 sanheyuan courtyard houses, maintaining centuries of historical traces. Thanks to the efforts of the Miaoli Traditional Settlement Culture Association, these courtyard clusters have been preserved, allowing the area’s traditional old-house culture to continue.
