One of the most popular Lunar New Year destinations, Kaohsiung’s “Sunflowers Welcome You to Shanlin” event in the Shanlin District will be held from January 27 to February 10 along Highway 181. In addition to the flower sea maze, there will be a Lunar New Year market and other related activities—making it a must-visit floral spot for photos during your Lunar New Year travels.

Taiwan’s largest sunflower sea in Shanlin spans four major floral zones. The main area is a 3-hectare sunflower maze where you can admire the blooms while navigating the labyrinth—it’s both fun and photogenic. The maze’s entrance and exit feature a city gate that blends modern and classic artistic elements.

From an aerial view, the maze also clearly displays the words “2019 I'd 30” (I Love Shanlin). From February 4 to 10, a Lunar New Year agricultural produce market and fair will also be held in front of the flower maze.

The four floral zones include the main sunflower maze area, Moon眉 Flower Field, Shanlin Bridge Flower Field, and Xinzhuang Happiness Flower Field—totaling 29 hectares planted with vast seas of sunflowers, cosmos, and zinnias. With shades of pink, orange, white, red, yellow, and mixed colors, the swaying vibrant blooms are incredibly soothing.
The mixed-color flower fields are super colorful.
The sunflower fields resemble little winter suns, extremely heartwarming.
