Tropical Depression 996 hPa, located at 22.2°N, 119°E at 2 PM on August 22 — approximately 180 km west of Eluanbi — is moving northeast at 15 km/h. It shows a slight tendency to intensify. Ships navigating or operating in the southern Taiwan Strait, Bashi Channel, and around Pratas Island should exercise caution. Whether this system will develop into a typhoon should be closely monitored in the coming days.

Affected by the peripheral circulation of this tropical depression and the development of vigorous convective clouds, short-duration heavy rainfall is likely. From the 22nd to the 23rd, Hsinchu County may experience localized heavy rain or downpours, while areas south of Taoyuan and other mountainous regions also have a chance of localized heavy rain. Watch out for lightning, strong gusts, and sudden rises in river water levels. Carry rain gear when going out due to unstable weather.
