The Meinong District Office in Kaohsiung holds the “Meinong Autumn & Winter Lohas Carnival” full of local character every year in autumn and winter. This year, with straw as the theme, they’ve created a Straw Fairy Tale World where classic fairy tale characters such as the giant Gulliver, Snow White, and the Little Mermaid have all appeared in Meinong！

The 2018 Meinong Autumn & Winter Lohas Carnival, themed “Fairy Tales Blow through Rice-Rich Meinong,” features its biggest highlight: the Straw Fairy Tale World installation art area. In addition to a 7-meter-long giant Gulliver, classic fairy tale characters like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the magical Jack and the Beanstalk, and the beautifully singing Little Mermaid are also present！

The Straw Fairy Tale World installation art area uses leftover straw after rice harvesting as material and employs the traditional straw-weaving craft commonly seen in early farming households to create 3D straw installations of five classic fairy tale characters. Not only are they uniquely charming, but they also add a new check-in spot to Meinong.

Additionally, the Meinong District Office has launched a free “Rice Meinong Light Travel” tour, with three sessions on October 6, 7, and 10. Professional guides will take visitors on a stroll through various spots in Meinong to explore its rich Hakka culture！
