Following previous kite festivals in Hsinchu and on the Northern Coast, top kite flyers from around the world have gathered once again in Daxi, Taoyuan, ready to fill the skies of Daxi with vibrant and colorful kites.

The 2018 Taoyuan International Kite Festival took place from October 13th to 14th. The event featured 15 international kite teams from countries including Germany, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan, with over a hundred participants bringing a splash of color to the skies of Taoyuan.
A giant green dragon kite from "Dragon Legend" will also make an appearance at this year’s kite festival.
This edition of the Taoyuan International Kite Festival not only showcases international flair but also incorporates local cultural elements of Daxi, Taoyuan. The kite performances include shaped kites, stunt kites, large soft kites of Taoyuan’s mascots ㄚ桃 (Ya-Tao) and 园哥 (Yuan-Ge), a 3-meter-long Daxi spinning top kite, 20 painted mini kites linked together by 20 elementary school students from Meihua Elementary School totaling 30 meters in length, as well as the “Dinosaur Kite Battle” led by a 12-meter green dragon kite from "Dragon Legend"—all incredibly spectacular.

The kite festival also features an anime-themed kite show, with popular character kites such as Minions, Peppa Pig, Stitch, and Chopper.
