The Matsu Blue Tears Eco-Museum is Matsu's first highly interactive nature and ecology museum. In addition to static exhibits introducing Matsu’s ecology, it also utilizes 4D surround virtual reality to immerse visitors in the love story of the Moon Princess and the Pirate King, taking them on a journey through the legend of the blue tears.

The Blue Tears Eco-Museum is divided into two sections: the Matsu Ecology Education Hall and the Blue Tears Interactive Hall. The central area of the Ecology Education Hall features a specimen display zone, complemented by surrounding text and images that provide a detailed introduction to the ecology of Matsu’s four townships and five islands.
Blue tears are caused by noctiluca scintillans emitting a pale blue fluorescence due to the effects of waves and wind.
Blue tears are a phenomenon where ostracods or dinoflagellates emit a pale blue glow under the influence of waves and natural wind. In old Matsu, they were known as “Ding Xiang Shui,” and it was believed that when large amounts of blue tears appeared, schools of the anchovy fish that feed on them would also appear.
Immersive blue tears scenes transport visitors into the legend.
In the interactive blue tears scenes, visitors can walk across the floor, where motion sensors project shimmering blue light and ripple effects, creating a magical, dreamlike atmosphere. The exhibit also incorporates cultivation technology from National Taiwan Ocean University, allowing visitors to get an up-close look and even touch the blue tears.
