In Taiwan, autumn brings swaying fields of silvergrass across many mountain forests, especially along the Lengshuikeng Trail on Yangmingshan, where vast white blooms are a huge hit. Taichung’s Wuri District also has a hidden trail, where endless silvergrass hills are a popular spot for locals to hike and take photos.

Taichung’s Zhigaozhen Trail lies between Wuri and Dadu Districts, with a round-trip distance of about 6 km. The elevation gain from the entrance to the peak at Xuetian Mountain is just 80 meters, making it an easy walk suitable for leisure strolls, exercise, or cycling breaks.
The Xuetian Mountain trail has no tree cover, so sun protection is essential on sunny days.
The trail is lined with low silvergrass, and reaching the summit’s triangulation point opens up a vast grassland expanse, evoking autumn’s crisp, open feel. From the top, you can also overlook the towns below, with panoramic views of Dadu and Wuri that stretch far and wide—perfect for relaxing your mind.
The mountaintop offers excellent visibility, with sweeping views of the Dadu and Wuri areas from different angles.
Zhigaozhen Trail is located behind Wuri Success Railway Station. The mountaintop has no obstructions, providing great sightlines, but sun protection is a must on clear, bright days. At night, when homes light up the area, it becomes a great stargazing spot, though there are no streetlights yet—so extra caution is advised when hiking after dark.
