Penang, located in the northern part of the Malay Peninsula, was established as a British outpost in Southeast Asia by Captain Francis Light in 1786. George Town still preserves colonial-era buildings and century-old commercial shophouses. Visitors can also explore the heritage area on foot or by trishaw (rickshaw), taking in the local scenery at a leisurely pace.
The "City Hall" of Penang is located along Light Street. Built in 1880, the entire building features a yellow-and-white color scheme and is an example of British Victorian architecture. It was originally used for community gatherings and public dining, and is one of the landmarks of George Town.

Penang is a place rich in art and culture, and its murals are one of its standout features. These murals were also the filming locations for the earlier TV drama "A Tale of Two Worlds."
Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic came to Penang on a backpacking trip in 2010 and fell deeply in love with the place. He then used his brush to express his ideas, creating murals with diverse and rich themes. The image above shows his work "Brother and Sister on a Bicycle."
3) Free Shuttle Service Helps You Save on Travel Costs
Since 2009, CAT has been providing a free shuttle service within George Town, operating back and forth between the Penang Ferry Terminal and Penang Road. Its route covers 19 attractions within the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.
