Seoul is the capital of South Korea. If you were planning to explore the city, which mode of transportation would you choose? Most of Seoul’s major attractions are located near its subway stations. If you’ve already visited popular sights like N Seoul Tower, Gwangjang Market, and Namdaemun Market, why not plan a more unique one-day deep dive tour? Combine one or two offbeat spots accessible via the Seoul Metro for a relaxing and distinctive Seoul solo trip.

Today, we’re focusing on the theme of “Seoul Night Views” and have curated several Seoul Metro × Seoul Suburban Deep Travel routes for you. Whether you enjoy outdoor hiking or a more artsy vibe, these options are worth considering. Include a million-dollar night view in your short Seoul getaway memories.

Namsan Park can be considered the top choice for Seoul night views, as it has been the filming location for many popular Korean dramas, such as “Brilliant Legacy,” “The Prince of the House of the Rising Sun,” and last year’s highly discussed “Because This Is My First Life.” If you want to see the expansive Seoul night view that the character Jiho watched with Boknam, Namsan Park is the place to go.

If you’re unsure where to go during the day, check out the nearby Ihwa Mural Village. Then take a leisurely evening stroll to Namsan Park for an even better night view.

■ Especially suitable for: You who don’t want to leave the city area and are a K-drama fan.
■ Seoul Metro: Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station on Line 4, walk 10 minutes toward Romane-yi Park.

Another famous spot for Seoul night views within the city is Eagle Mountain (Aegibong). It has also been featured in Korean dramas like “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo” and “It’s Okay, That’s Love.” Not only is it close to a subway station, but you can also enjoy a full view of the four Han River bridges and Lotte World Tower. However, it’s advised that female travelers visiting Eagle Mountain for night views go with a companion and stay vigilant about personal safety.

■ Especially suitable for:You who enjoy hiking, embrace nature, and love wide, open views.

Speaking of high-altitude night views in Korea, if you still only think of N Seoul Tower, you’re way behind the times. Recently, the hottest attraction in the Seoul suburbs is Asia’s first and the world’s seventh “Space Universe Café.” Here, you can enjoy a 360-degree, unobstructed Seoul night view from a spaceship 35 meters (about 10 stories) above the ground — and sip coffee while you're at it. After visiting this Seoul spot, you can brag to your friends that you drank coffee up in the sky.

■ Especially suitable for:You who spent the day exploring Seoul by subway and feel too lazy to plan anything in the afternoon—just want to chill.

In addition to the high-altitude night view, there’s also a Space Starlight Garden around the Space Tower, featuring all kinds of cute and dreamy light decorations that make the garden sparkle at night. If you feel too tired from taking photos, you can take a break and grab a bite since the Space Starlight Garden ticket allows multiple entries within a day, so you can take all the photos you want before leaving.

■ Especially suitable for:You who love twinkling lights, take tons of photos, and need to post them on IG to feel satisfied.

Lotte World Tower, completed last year, is another super popular Seoul attraction. Standing 556 meters tall with 123 floors, it includes an outlet mall, office buildings, residential spaces, and tourist areas. Among them are the must-visit “SKY 31 FOOD AVENUE” and “Seoul SKY” for stunning night views.

The former is a food street where you can go up for free by exchanging for an IC pass card, and it offers free high-altitude Seoul night views thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. The latter is a paid observation deck where you can enjoy a complete 360-degree view of Seoul’s nightlife. Both are great choices — it just depends on what you prefer.

■ Especially suitable for:You who love chasing iconic city landmarks and sceneries.
■ Seoul Metro:Exit 1 or 2 of Jamsil Station on Line 2 or 8

Amid the 360-degree night view of Seoul, you can usually spot the Banpo Bridge, Seongsu Bridge, and Yeongdong Bridge, but the most famous is the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain on the Banpo Bridge (찰쥬하산???). The fountain is installed on both sides of the 570-meter-long bridge deck, illuminated by 200 specially designed lights to create a dazzling rainbow effect, hence earning the name "Rainbow Fountain."

Between April and October each year, there are 4 to 6 shows daily, each lasting about 20 minutes. There’s also an outdoor stage and picnic area nearby, allowing visitors to relax while enjoying the fountain display.

■ Especially suitable for:You who love the Han River and are particularly fond of water dances and light shows

Sky Park is one of the parks built for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan, located near World Cup Stadium Station on the Seoul Metro. Along the path leading up to the park, you can enjoy increasingly expansive green views of Seoul, and once you reach the top, the 360-degree w??ǎ? reveals the city skyline and the park’s sweeping views at dusk.

In autumn, when the purple miscanthus flowers bloom, you can also witness the endless sea of silver grass at Sky Park. Walking through the grassy pathways is a lot of fun, making it a must-visit spot for hipsters and Instagrammers.

Finally, although Vanilla Island isn’t in Seoul, it has become a popular nearby destination in recent years due to its convenient access from the city and stunning illuminated night views.

Vanilla Island is currently Korea’s largest indoor herb garden, home to over 180 varieties of aromatic plants. During the day, you can explore its Venice-inspired architecture, outdoor gardens, and herb museum. When night falls, enjoy the colorful light festival within the park, soaking in the romantic ambiance reminiscent of Korean dramas like “Hyde, Jekyll, Me” and “Oh My Venus.”

■ Especially suitable for:You who are always watching dramas and want to experience a romantic light festival
