When visiting Hokkaido in summer, you absolutely have to go to Farm Tomita in Furano—not just because the comfortable temperature makes it great for travel, but also because summer is when the lavender blooms in full glory. The vast purple fields stretching across the mountains make you feel as if you’ve been transported to Provence in France.
To be honest, Hokkaido’s lavender is in no way inferior to Europe’s. Coupled with Hokkaido’s must-visit attractions and delicious food, it's actually even more suitable for Asian travelers.

Sounkyo features unique steep cliffs and canyons, and there is a nearby hot spring town. Visiting in autumn allows you to enjoy the mountain covered in red foliage. Those interested can check out the tourist routes at the Sounkyo Tourist Center. Among them, Lili Lingzi explored the “Milky Way Gorge” sightseeing route.

After visiting Sounkyo, head straight to Abashiri for some conveyor-belt sushi. This restaurant uses very fresh ingredients and has reasonable prices—it's definitely one of the must-eat spots in Abashiri, Hokkaido.

From mid-May to mid-June every year, the Shibazakura Park in Hokkaido transforms into a sea of pink moss flowers. Unfortunately, the authorities had harvested all the flowers by June 12th. When Lili Lingzi visited on June 20th, there were no flowers—only a few cows… But on the way back from Shiretoko Hotel, she passed by a cheese shop and enjoyed what she considers the best cheesecake ice cream she’s ever had.

Shiretoko National Park is located on the Shiretoko Peninsula in eastern Hokkaido and is one of the most beautiful and pristine national parks in Japan. The peninsula is home to various wildlife (such as brown bears, deer, and foxes). In July 2005, due to the irreplaceable importance of the peninsula’s ecosystem and biodiversity, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Every year during the lavender season in Hokkaido, accommodations in Furano often get fully booked. So, we ultimately chose to stay in Asahikawa, near Furano—the Natural Onsen Kamuy-no-Yu Asahikawa DORMY INN. It’s close to JR Asahikawa Station, and for a twin room + WIFI + hot spring + parking (breakfast not included), the price is 13,000 Q. DORMY has many branches, all located near JR stations, with clean rooms and well-equipped facilities. Over ten thumbs up!!
The Rausu Daiichi Hotel near Shiretoko National Park is Lili Lingzi’s favorite hotel in Hokkaido. The hotel features many beautiful ceramic decorations, giving you the feeling of being in a forest. The twin room comes with hot spring access + internet + free parking + dinner + breakfast = 20,000 Q.
Not only is the accommodation experience great, but the dinner provided by the hotel is also exquisite and delicious, with fresh ingredients. Amazing!!
