Arches National Park in the western United States is located in the desert region of the Colorado Plateau. With its unique terrain, the park boasts over two thousand large and small, diverse-shaped arches that are a feast for the eyes, making it the place with the highest concentration of stone arches in the world. Some of the more famous ones include Delicate Arch (the Elegant Arch), Double Arch, Balanced Rock, Landscape Arch, and Devil's Garden. Delicate Arch (the Elegant Arch)
The weather at Arches National Park is very hot, reaching up to 40 degrees, with the sun blazing all day long under clear, blue skies—perfect conditions for infrared photography. Getting blue skies and white clouds is never an issue. In terms of vegetation, this being a desert area, there are only low-lying grasses on the ground, and not many trees. The unique landforms take on even more surreal appearances under the special effects of infrared photography.

This place bears some resemblance to Turkey’s fairy chimneys, but the fairy chimneys are denser and even more unusual. Moreover, the fairy chimneys have human presence, whereas this place is extremely natural and virtually uninhabited.

In post-processing using Lightroom, simply adjusting the white balance can create photographs with vastly different styles.
The leaves can sometimes be adjusted to appear pink.
Black-and-white infrared photos have distinct layers, with multiple shades of gray between black and white—unlike regular black-and-white photos.
