Early autumn in Korea is a perfect time to go wild over flowers. Whether you’re near Seoul or as far as North or South Jeolla Province, you can find beautiful flower fields of all sizes. This female traveler found even more to love on her autumn trip than during cherry blossom or autumn foliage seasons, with the easily accessible Yangju flower fields being her top recommendation.
Yangju is located in Gyeonggi Province and can be reached from central Seoul by subway in under an hour. The flower fields are located in Nari Park within the city—an originally local residents-only park that doesn’t even appear on most Yangju municipal tourism maps. It only became an Instagram-famous hotspot after photos of its cosmos flower fields went viral.
The 2017 Yangju Cosmos Festival was held on September 23rd and 24th. Although this female traveler visited on the non-weekend days right after, there were still plenty of locals heading to the flower fields. In addition to cosmos, the fields also feature orange cosmos flowers, various types of melon trellises, and the adorable puffball-like ‘pompom grass’—so much so that you could easily spend an entire afternoon taking photos here ^^

Take Exit 2 of Yangju Station on Seoul Subway Line 1, then get on Bus 80 at the bus stop across the street.Get off at Jeungjigokso or take a taxi from Yangju Station to Nari Park (near Gungnae-bosang), which costs about 6,000 to 7,000 won.
