Hong Kong has recently sparked discussions about setting up “container houses.” In fact, aside from being used as accommodations, container houses have become some of the trendiest and most popular tourist attractions around the world, drawing visitors eager for photo ops. One of the emerging container house destinations is “集盒．Kubic” (Jihe Kubic) located on Fuxing 3rd Road in Kaohsiung.
After taking inspiration from container markets such as Seoul’s “COMMON GROUND” and Bangkok’s “ART BOX,” the Kaohsiung City Government stacked 33 colorful containers like building blocks to create a large-scale park, forming the creative landmark “集盒．Kubic” (Jihe Kubic), which officially opened in March this year. Covering an area equivalent to 15 soccer fields, its vast grassy space is perfect for picnics.
KUBIC stands for Kaohsiung, Urban, Boxes, Innovation, and Creative, aiming to showcase endless creativity through stacked containers. The container village also serves as a platform for exhibitions, forums, and entrepreneurship. Currently, there are 15 cultural and creative shops and eateries stationed here. “有用案内所” (You Yong An Nai Suo) redesigns life’s waste materials into new products through design, helping to reduce waste, while “对味实验室－采踏” (Dui Wei Shi Yan Shi - Cai Ta) shares high-quality agricultural products and design concepts, bringing farm-fresh goods closer to everyone's daily life.
“集盒．Kubic” (Jihe Kubic) is located at No. 5, Fuxing 3rd Road, Lane 8, Jianlong Li. Visitors can take the Red Line MRT to R7 Shijia Station, exit from Exit 4, turn left onto Fuxing 3rd Road, and walk for five minutes. As the container village is currently planned to operate for only one year, until October next year, travelers heading to Kaohsiung shouldn’t miss this popular photo spot.
