The shortlisted photos in this round are all of very high quality, showing that the participants possess solid skills. This photo was taken from the viewing platform of the Queenstown Skyline gondola, offering a panoramic view of Queenstown city and Lake Wakatipu. In fact, as long as you reach this spot and have a wide-angle lens, you can capture this composition. Technically speaking, using a small aperture, low ISO, and long exposure are key tips for shooting high-quality dusk and night scenes. But the most compelling reason this photo stands out is that the photographer did their homework well — shooting during the dusk magic hour and waiting for the city streetlights to come on. This window of opportunity only lasts about 15 to 30 minutes each day; at other times, the scene would be relatively ordinary.
