Most people might think that the best way to view Venice, the water city of Italy, is from a boat. However, architect and photographer Dimitar Karanikolov believes that capturing the city from the air using a drone better showcases its astonishing artistic structure.
To capture the most stunning views, Karanikolov started shooting at sunrise. He described that only with a drone can one look down on the world from above, and the resulting photos possess architectural features, almost like blueprints, offering a completely different perspective from what people usually see.
The red hues, terracotta rooftops, blue canals, and white marble facades resemble an ancient aerial map of Venice. Karanikolov hopes to showcase the city’s remarkable urban planning, presenting “a very familiar place” from a unique new angle.
