While enjoying the lake and mountain scenery at the Zengwen Reservoir, don’t forget to hike to Pig Island to feed the wild boars. Pig Island is an uninhabited island where the wild boars usually hunt for food on their own. But when the sightseeing boat arrives and music is played, the boars will gather in groups and approach the tourists who disembark, hoping for a hearty snack.
Although feeding the wild boars is a fun experience, please remember not to get too close or cross the fence separating you from the animals. Simply scatter the feed for the herd of boars. Up—this Year of the Pig, take a hike up Pig Island and feed the boars during the lunar New Year for a great time.

Kids who have grown up in urban areas usually spend most of their playtime with electronic devices. This Lunar New Year, take the kids out for some fresh air. We especially recommend visiting a vanishing piece of Taiwan's territory—Waisanding Sandbar and the Tsengwen Reservoir—where you can explore natural landscapes and ecological environments.
Waisanding Sandbar appears and disappears with the tides. During low tide, you can take your kids to dig for clams or chase sand crabs. The Tsengwen Reservoir not only boasts crystal-clear blue waters and beautiful mountain scenery, but you can also visit the Reservoir Sustainable Use Exhibition Hall to teach children about the importance of water conservation. If you have more time, head to Pig Island to feed the pigs. Let your kids escape the city once in a while and experience the natural beauty of the countryside!
