Daily Gansu Net - Science and Technology Xin Bao News, April 29 — Jointly organized by the Yuzhong County Party Committee, the Yuzhong County Government, and the Administration of Xinglong Mountain National Nature Reserve, the 2012 Yuzhong Cultural Tourism Festival grandly opened on April 29 in the scenic, national 4A-level attraction Xinglong Mountain. At the same time, the First Yuzhong Xinglong Mountain Climbing Competition was also launched. This cultural tourism festival will be the longest in duration, richest in form and content, and most widely participated in the history of Yuzhong, running until mid-February 2013 for a total of nine months.
The festival will feature eight major events: the Xinglong Mountain Climbing Competition, the First Xinglong Mountain Mountaineering Festival, the First Mini Marathon, the Third “Summer in Xinglong” Square Performing Arts, the Xinglong Mountain June 6 Mountain Fair, the Qingcheng Yellow River Rafting and Lotus Festival, the Sixth Xinglong Mountain Golden Autumn Red Leaf Festival, and the Second Yuzhong Ice and Snow Festival. As the “appetizer” of Yuzhong’s tourism this year, the First Yuzhong Xinglong Mountain Climbing Competition kicked off on April 29. After two days of preliminary rounds, over 30 contestants stood out from more than 200 participants to advance to the finals on May 1. During the finals that day, after fierce competition, first, second, and third prizes for both the men’s group and mixed group were awarded, with the men’s first prize coming with a bonus of 5,000 yuan.
