A man in Chaoyang lost control while paragliding at high altitude and accidentally fell down a mountainside.
Firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving the emergency call and carried out a rescue operation. Fortunately, the man is not in critical condition.
Yesterday, reporters learned about the incident from the Chaoyang Public Security Fire Brigade.
At 14:03 on November 30, the Shuangta First Squadron of the Chaoyang Public Security Fire Brigade received a report from the public that a paragliding enthusiast had accidentally fallen halfway up Qilin Mountain in Chaoyang City while paragliding at the mountaintop. The squadron immediately dispatched two fire trucks and 10 firefighters to the scene.
As the trapped person was located deep in the mountains, the fire trucks were unable to reach the accident site. The rescuers had to carry various rescue equipment such as ropes and stretchers and proceed to the site on foot.
The firefighters arrived at the accident scene at 14:40. It was learned that a group of five or six people had come to Qilin Mountain for a visit.
One man suggested paragliding from the mountaintop, but due to wind direction and air currents, he lost control while paragliding and fell down the mountainside. The trapped person called for help using a radio he was carrying, and his companions quickly called the police.
Upon examination at the scene, the trapped person had a serious head injury but was still conscious, repeatedly crying out in pain. The terrain where he fell was rugged, with no flat ground, and there was snow on the mountain, making the slope very slippery. Medical personnel first provided basic treatment for the injuries.
Subsequently, the rescuers divided tasks based on the situation and terrain. First, they placed the trapped person on a stretcher and secured him. Then, they dropped two ropes from the mountaintop, with both ends tied to the stretcher, preparing to pull the trapped person up to the top. Finally, they organized people at the mountaintop to assist the firefighters in pulling the ropes together.
The rescue process was extremely difficult. Firefighters halfway up the mountain carried and supported the stretcher by hand, while those at the top pulled the ropes. Due to the slippery conditions, rescuers fell several times, and their hands were scratched by tree branches, but they ensured the trapped person on the stretcher did not suffer any further injuries.
At 16:00, the firefighters finally successfully delivered the injured man to the ambulance.
