In 1990, mountaineer Tim Macartney-Snape and Himalayan explorer as well as gear expert Roland Tyson co-founded Sea to Summit — named after Tim’s successful sea-level-to-summit ascent of Mount Everest that same year, symbolizing our commitment to developing innovative and lightweight gear through outdoor knowledge.
Today, Sea to Summit’s products (including waterproof stuff sacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats/sleeping bag liners, quick-dry towels, X-Series foldable cutlery, and other outdoor gear, as well as ultra-light travel equipment focused on minimal weight) are sold in 35 countries and have won numerous design and business awards in Australia, Europe, and the United States. Yet such growth, achievements, and high international recognition have not diminished our core philosophy.
Going forward, Sea to Summit will continue, with even stronger conviction, to seek out the best materials, most advanced manufacturing techniques, and cutting-edge concepts to develop new products — striving to stay at the forefront of the industry and bring more lightweight, practical, and user-friendly gear to outdoor and travel enthusiasts worldwide.
