Hualien “Tribal Bus” to Launch on the 22nd, Offering Direct Access to 6 Indigenous Villages

Hualien’s “Tribal Palafang Bus” officially began service on the 22nd. In the future, it will take travelers directly to tribal villages, allowing them to experience 13 eco-creative tours across six major villages on the East Coast. A tribal station has also been launched alongside the bus service — a space filled with indigenous installation art that lets visitors soak in the indigenous culture of Hualien and Taitung even before boarding.

Hualien County Magistrate Fu Kun-chi stated that Hualien-Taitung boasts a unique tourism appeal that cannot be replicated elsewhere. To address and improve the issue of inconvenient transportation for tribal tourism on the East Coast, this special Tribal Palafang Bus service has been introduced, bringing the bus directly to the villages and encouraging visitors to stay longer.

Chen Jian-cun, acting director of the Indigenous Peoples Administration Division under the Hualien County Government, said that after the official launch of the Tribal Palafang Bus, it will take travelers to the Shueilian, Jishi, XinShe, Fuxing, Gangkou, and Jingpu villages. From mountain forests and streams to traditional crafts, 13 different types of experiences allow visitors to discover a new side of the East Coast. In addition, the bus will be accompanied by professional tribal guides who will share stories and historical culture of the villages, offering travelers an immersive experience of the deep and delicate indigenous cultural heritage.
