Typhoon Meranti recently hit Taiwan, snapping the Fugang Fishing Port lighthouse and blocking the shipping channel, severely impacting transportation and supplies to and from the offshore islands. On the morning of the 22nd, Taitung County Government began dredging at the harbor mouth of Fugang Fishing Port, and ferry services to Green Island are expected to resume by the morning of the 23rd.

Taitung County Government stated that on the morning of the 22nd, they first removed silt accumulated at the harbor mouth of the shipping channel to restore the boat passage, alleviating the issue of disrupted ferry services over recent days. Subsequent work will continue dredging the sand and soil at the harbor mouth, gradually clearing obstacles in the channel, and carrying out reconstruction in accordance with post-disaster recovery procedures, with the aim of restoring transportation and freight services between Taitung, Green Island, and Orchid Island as soon as possible.
