Taiwan’s Tainan: Night-Only Hidden Gems – Cantonese-Style Iced Lemon Tea & Yuanyang Milk Tea

Do you like Hong Kong-style drinks? I sure do (can you dislike any drink, really? XD). Today, I’m sharing a somewhat special spot—let’s enjoy a Yuanyang milk tea together… or maybe you’d prefer the iced lemon tea?

This is the place—hidden Hong Kong-style drinks on Dade Street. Many might not be familiar with Dade Street, but it’s actually not far from Shin Kong Mitsukoshi’s Xintiandi branch—you can just navigate there. The shop name is also quite unique: “乜料茶居.” Many people might not know how to pronounce the character ‘乜,’ but the owner has added phonetic annotations. If you still can’t get it, you’ll get a gentle scolding—come on, follow me: ㄇㄧㄝ 乜, it's the sound sheep make, ㄇㄧㄝ~

Even the interior decor is pretty interesting—somewhat retro with a touch of childlike charm. There’s also a large screen that plays cartoons and such...

The drink menu is right on the wall; just point to whatever you want to order. Last time I heard they’d soon offer some small snacks to pair with tea, but I’m not sure if they’re available yet.

After dinner, swing by and order a drink each.

Yuanyang Milk Tea – NT$40 It has a rich, smooth blend of tea and coffee aromas. The flavor is bold and easy to drink—I think it’s really tasty.

Iced Lemon Tea – NT$40

Topped with several slices of yellow lemon and made with Ceylon black tea, it’s refreshingly zesty with a tangy lemon kick—definitely flavorful!!

We both thought these two drinks were pretty good. The owner seems to be from Hong Kong, and the shop hours are a bit irregular. Friends planning to visit should check the shop’s Facebook page first to avoid a wasted trip.
