A smile, politeness, and professionalism are the first impressions passengers have of cabin crew when boarding, but their actual work involves many secrets they find hard to share with travelers. The UK Daily Mailreported facts revealed in open forums, which might surprise you and me greatly!
1. Morning flights experience less turbulence
An air hostess shared that flights in the afternoon usually encounter more turbulence because thunderstorms are more common during that time. But airlines don’t tell passengers this, as they hope to sell tickets evenly.
2. Seats aren’t as clean as you think
Many people assume the lavatory is the dirtiest part of the plane, but a flight attendant said the dirtiest spots are actually the seatbelts and tray tables, according to microbiological research.
3. Food may not be fresh
People may not have high expectations for in-flight meals, but a flight attendant mentionedsome meals might have been kept warm for over 72 hours,a number that’s still quite shocking.
4. There are ashtrays on the plane
Although there are no-smoking signs everywhere on the aircraft, there are still ashtrays, located near the lavatories. However, there won’t be a sign indicating you can smoke there. The ashtrays are mainly for passengers who can’t resist smoking, to prevent them from throwing cigarette butts in the toilet waste bins.
5. Avoid flying when you have a cold if possible
An air hostess shared that it’s best not to fly when you have a severe cold, as the pressure could damage your eardrums and cause temporary hearing loss.
6. Don’t take motion sickness pills right before takeoff
It’s better to take motion sickness medication an hour before takeoff, and avoid having overly greasy meals before boarding.
