In the poetic season of autumn, aside from viewing maple leaves in Japan or visiting a bald cypress sanctuary, the sight of vast ginkgo forests turning golden is equally spectacular. Located in Lugu, Nantou, Wuxiu Farm is one of the best spots to admire the sea of golden ginkgo trees. When autumn arrives, the ginkgo blossoms across these vast mountain forests look as though they’re covered with a giant golden blanket, creating a romantic view that’s unique to the season.

Wuxiu Farm is part of the Shanlinxi branch of the Alishan Mountain Range, located within Lugu Township, at an altitude of about 1,300 to 1,500 meters. The expansive 80-plus hectare park is home to a rich variety of tree species, including ginkgo, cherry blossom, podocarpus, machilus, camphor, Taiwan fir, and other tall trees. The most eye-catching feature is the over 50-hectare ginkgo plantation, which attracts large numbers of visitors every autumn.

Ginkgo trees are medium-sized deciduous trees that can grow up to 20 to 35 meters tall. In autumn, their leaves gradually turn golden yellow, making for an especially magnificent sight. Viewed from above, the long walking paths are nestled within the golden ginkgo forest, allowing visitors to stroll freely along the trails and lose themselves in the romance of the vast golden ginkgo woods.
