Tainan’s “Galaxy Christmas” Lights Up the Ancient City – Seven Major Light Zones to Shine in December

The annual romantic festival is back again this year. To create a festive Christmas atmosphere, the Tainan City Government has planned seven major light zones to illuminate the ancient city, conveying the city’s imagery of happiness, warmth, and peace. Travelers visiting Tainan in December will be immersed in a strong Christmas ambiance.

Tainan, known as Taiwan’s cultural capital, boasts a rich history, historical monuments, and unique alleyway flavors that attract many tourists time and again. To highlight the unique characteristics of Tainan, Christmas lights will illuminate seven key areas across the city: the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Xinying Cultural Center, Canal Starry Sky Park, Minzhi Municipal Government Center, Tainan Cultural and Creative Park, Haian Road, and Zhengxing Street.

The theme of the 2016 Tainan Christmas Light Festival is “Galaxy Christmas.” The entire Greater Tainan area is portrayed as a cosmic galaxy, with different administrative districts representing planets within the galaxy. It also symbolizes blessings and joy, as sparkling lights flow to every household in Tainan City, warming everyone's heart.

December 4 (Sun) at 18:40, beside Nangmen Road near the National Museum of Taiwan Literature
December 9 (Fri) at 18:00, at Nan Ying Hall Plaza in the Minzhi Municipal Government Center
