Known as the food capital of Taiwan, Tainan’s historic city not only boasts a wealth of ancient architecture, delicious street food, and photogenic hotspots, but also hides many fun natural attractions. 1. Jingzijiao Tile-Pond Salt Fields
The Beimen Jingzijiao Tile-Pond Salt Fields are the oldest surviving tile-pond salt fields, entirely made up of tile ponds that create a beautiful mosaic-like artistic effect, making it the most distinctive coastal attraction in Tainan. The annual New Year’s Eve trilogy—Part One: Sunset Send-off event—is always packed with visitors.

2. Deyuanpi Dutch Village
Deyuanpi Dutch Village is characterized by its imitation of the hometown of the famous painter Van Gogh, combining rich pond and wetland ecological environments. The park features authentically imported Dutch windmills powered purely by wind, as well as a red-brick Van Gogh Bridge and other exotic sights. The annual Windmill Festival is also one of the must-visit events in Tainan.

3. Dream Lake
Hidden in the mountainous area at the junction of Liujia and Guantian in eastern Tainan are many beautiful lakes, among which the most breathtaking is the hidden gem of Dream Lake. With lake scenery comparable to Sun Moon Lake and a tranquil bamboo forest reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, paired with Tainan’s traditional cultural charm, it’s worth the trek even if you have to cross mountains and hills.

4. Linfengying Ranch
Located in Liujia District, Linfengying Ranch is primarily known for producing bottled Linfengying Fresh Milk. In addition to being able to get up close to dairy cows, there is also a nearby metasequoia forest located beside Provincial Highway 1, which turns red in autumn and winter, creating an incredibly romantic scene that gives the illusion of being in a northern country.
