In Sanqi Village, Dongshan Township, Yilan County, a 3-kilometer winding country road stretches from Fengzun Temple to Xiesong Road. With no utility poles in sight, the vast landscape has earned nicknames such as the “Yilan Version of Bolang Boulevard” and “Dongshan Bolang Boulevard.” It’s also a popular Instagram hotspot among fashion influencers, offering an incredibly photogenic expanse of rice fields.

The water in Sanqi Village, Dongshan Township, is clear and the soil is fertile, resulting in abundant agricultural production. Rice farming is the main economic activity. Every summer, when large areas of rice turn golden, they sway in the wind, forming beautiful waves.

Most rice paddies in Taiwan are second-season crops. The first season runs approximately from February to June, and the second from August to December. Whether it's the lush green fields or the golden waves of rice just before harvest, both are stunningly beautiful.

Once the rice ears form, they create an expansive sea of golden stalks that is incredibly soothing and uplifting to behold. This is a seasonal and time-limited hidden gem attraction. Once the harvesting season arrives, it’s gone—so be sure to visit soon. Super photogenic too. (The emerald green rice fields before earing are also gorgeous to photograph!)

Dongshan Township Office sets up a photography platform about 6.5 meters high every year. It’s roughly three stories tall—please be careful when climbing to take photos.A security team is also hired to manage the area, allowing visitors to enjoy and capture the beautiful scenery from above. The platform can hold a maximum of 20 people, and will be dismantled once the rice is about to be harvested.
