The two most expensive things about traveling abroad are airfare and accommodation. So, it helps if you have good friends or family living overseas—they can save you a lot of money!! For example, if a hotel room costs 3,000 per day, five days would be 15,000—that’s more than enough to spend on food, drinks, fun, and entertainment!
The first step to saving money is airfare. The Supermom has put together a ticket-snatching plan—check it out quickly: Part 2. How to Snag Cheap Airline Tickets? Saving on Airfare Makes Family Trips Easy!!
As for me, Supermom, when I plan accommodations for trips, my considerations vary depending on the country I’m visiting!
So, I think about what “accommodation” really means for me. Do I want something conveniently located with good transport? Or do I want to enjoy hotel facilities? What should I consider when traveling with kids??
Here’s a big analysis from Supermom:
Island destinations: It’s all about enjoying the hotel!! The room should be spacious and comfortable, with beautiful views, and access to hotel amenities like restaurants, pools, and private beaches. Some hotels even have kids’ play areas or childcare/baby-sitting services—perfect for traveling with kids!
But even if you choose a hotel closer to a bustling area, tropical island hotels are generally great, offering pools and restaurants to enjoy!
The rooms are quite large, and the atmosphere is wonderful!!
The bathrooms are also very spacious, with the shower on the right and the toilet on the left, separated. If you book a larger room type, I’ve seen some that even have standalone bathtubs!! Awesome~
Even though Dad tried hard to hold Bunny up high, she still got splashed!!
Hotel amenities include sand play and slides.
The images of island-type hotels above are from these two hotels!!

City travel: In a city, you won’t spend much time enjoying the hotel because you’ll mostly be out shopping and sightseeing. So, I look for a location close to the downtown area and near a metro station. After walking around and getting tired, you can go back to the hotel to rest before heading out again. This way, you save time wasted on commuting, and since your trip abroad only lasts a few days, wasting half a day on figuring out buses, metros, and trains adds up. But staying close to the city center also gives you a great short-distance transport experience—each country’s transportation system is super interesting!
But they still have everything you need—it’s really convenient, with a hotplate, microwave, sink, and utensils, making it a simple little kitchen!!
(When traveling in Europe, go early because most places are closed from Monday to Friday between 10:00–19:00, open until 16:00 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. But wow, what great service—Europe really values family time!!)

Currently, Supermom only uses these tools—if there are more convenient ones, feel free to share them with me!
Great tools for finding accommodations: (can search hotels worldwide)
1.Agoda
This system is focused on booking accommodations and has many partner websites, but I stick with it because of my usage habits and the accumulated points and discounts.
2.TripAdvisor
This system is even better!! It covers attractions, accommodations, and food, and even ranks them. You can log in with Facebook and use location services to find nearby hotels, food, and attractions!
You can also compare prices across major accommodation websites (Agoda is included and compares prices with others!!), so you can choose the cheapest option to book!
3.Airbnb
For those who don’t want to stay in hotels, check out this website—it’s suitable for short-term rentals!!
Room Booking Tips:
1. The earlier you book, the cheaper the price.
2. Promotional rates offer discounts of 30% off, 50% off, and 70% off.
3. Understand the low and high seasons for each country — prices can vary a lot!
4. After every trip, be sure to leave an online review for the hotel to earn points that can be used to deduct your next stay amount!! (Kneeling Mom has saved over a thousand dollars this way!!)
5. Reviews: Never ignore what others say — it’s very important!! They’ve been there and know what they’re talking about. After all, they’ve stayed at the hotel and can give honest feedback!
6. Category Search: Quickly find hotels that meet your desired price and location.
Room Booking Tips for Families with Babies:
1. Check if a baby crib is available.
2. If no crib is available, ask if there’s a King-size bed — it’s less cramped to sleep with your child.
Overseas hotels: Kneeling Mom has encountered some that are very thoughtful, providing baby cribs and bath essentials.
Taiwanese hotels often have small bathtubs, bottle warmers, baby cribs, and more!! Even more thoughtful~!!
Hopefully this helps everyone travel as easily as Kneeling Mom does, just grabbing the baby and heading out!!^0^ Create unforgettable and happy memories for the whole family!!
