[Great Fun for Kids]Puli Fruit Picking Adventure. Passion fruit galore in Dapingding, Hepingli!!
What’s your impression of Puli?
Beautiful mountains and rivers, distilleries, and the Chung Tai Chan Monastery. In recent years, there's also been chocolate and baumkuchen.
But the Puli you don’t know about actually holds even more of nature’s beauty—and this time, we got to experience it: passion fruit.

By chance, we had the privilege of visiting the head of Hepingli and his wife. On our way to the destination, I accidentally took a wrong turn and unexpectedly stumbled upon this breathtaking view.
The sight of endless passion fruit orchards covering the hillsides truly amazed us. We never imagined that at the top of the mountain, there would be such an abundance of passion fruit farms. Standing there, we couldn't help but exclaim—amazing!!!

When the two kids (Ch and Ch) entered the passion fruit orchard, their curiosity grew. They had only ever eaten deep red passion fruits and had never seen how they grow on trees. Turns out, passion fruit belongs to the Passiflora genus—most are climbing vines. So as the fruit ripens, it needs to be supported by layers of netting to climb upward along the trellis. That’s why it ends up growing right above the kids’ heads.

A lovely lady head of the village helped the older sister try her hand at picking passion fruit—it’s not as easy as it looks, you know.

After picking the first passion fruit, she was over the moon with joy.

Wow!! Look how plump and juicy the flesh is—so satisfying~~~~~

Today, Chris’s job was to eat, because he wasn’t tall enough to pick the fruit. But when it came to eating, he was extremely dedicated.

After eating, he just kept daydreaming, waiting for the next batch to land in his hands.

After picking the passion fruits, these two kids just couldn’t get enough—they’d never enjoyed them this much before.

With the help of the head of the village and his wife, the two kids left with baskets full of fruit, absolutely thrilled.

See that? Isn’t it gorgeous!! It’s all golden passion fruit ordered by customers.

The head of the village and his wife said that doing business is about building a good reputation, so of course they carefully select every single piece of fruit for their customers. When the customers are happy, they’re happy too.

Chloe was so happy holding a big basket full of passion fruit.
The passion fruit orchards in Dapingding are not open to the public. This time, we were able to explore this beautiful place purely thanks to the connections of our little aunt.
Every day, these fruit farmers are very busy, harvesting passion fruits from the mountains. The farmers also mutually agree on planting methods throughout the year to reduce the impact of pests and diseases on the environment. They really put a lot of care into protecting our environment and providing us with wonderful produce.

Passion fruits are best enjoyed around July and August each year. If you think giving pomelos during Mid-Autumn Festival is a bit boring, maybe try something new—gift star-shaped or golden passion fruits. I’m sure it would be a great choice too.
