        I. Snow CampingSleeping BagDo not place it directly on snowy or icy ground to prevent the body from melting the snow/ice, which can lead to coldness. Before using the sleeping bag, fluff it up fully to improve insulation. Keep the sleeping bag dry at all times and dry it in the sun on clear days. After each use, release the warm air inside to prevent condensation from dampening the bag when the air cools. When getting into the sleeping bag, avoid wearing too many clothes—overdressing can cause sweating, leading to moisture buildup and reduced insulation.

II. Keeping Clothing Dry, especially gloves and socks, is crucial. At night, it’s best to dry them by the fire or place them inside the sleeping bag to warm and dry using body heat during sleep. Do not wear shoes to dry your feet—this not only dries them poorly but also generates moisture inside, which can freeze when walking in snow later, increasing the risk of frostbite. Hunters have a tip: wear plastic bags over your socks before putting on shoes to keep feet warm and dry.

III. Never drink alcohol in the cold. While alcohol may create a temporary sensation of warmth, it actually causes blood vessels to dilate, increasing heat loss from the body and leading to weakness.

IV. For winter camping, sleeping alone is less warm than sharing a sleeping space with another person. Combining two sets of bedding creates much more insulation, and body heat can be shared for mutual warmth. Whether sleeping alone or with someone, avoid wearing cotton clothing—it will make you colder over time. It’s better to wear fleece and put on a fur hat before sleeping, with the ear flaps down and worn backwards to protect against head frostbite. Do some light exercise before sleep and after waking up to ward off the cold.
