Cyclists
When I first started cycling, I didn’t take seriously what an experienced cyclist said about cycling discipline. It’s just riding a bicycle—how strict can the rules be? But after cycling for over a year and witnessing a few falls and hearing about many cycling accidents, I gradually understood why we do these things!!!
1: A helmet is essential—it can save your life in critical moments;
2: Gloves absorb sweat and help you grip the handlebars firmly without slipping;
3: Eye protection shields against wind and sand, keeping your eyes sharp and clear;
4: No drinking while cycling—always stay alert and make sound judgments;
5: Spit off the route—if you spit freely, the cyclist behind you might swerve to avoid it and get into trouble;
6: When taking calls, pull out of the line, slow down, or stop. Calls are important, but safety is more important;
7: Stay focused—if you lose concentration while cycling, you might hurt yourself or others;
8: Hand signals and verbal cues should be actively passed back—we’re a team, and everyone’s safety matters;
9: Control speed during night rides—even the brightest flashlight only provides limited light. If the road suddenly gets rough, you need to ensure you can still pass safely;
10: Don’t show off on descents—speed control is key. Go downhill slowly and arrive home safely;
Listen to advice—it’s better to be safe than sorry. When other cyclists warn you about risks or criticize your dangerous behavior, you should feel grateful. Most importantly: ride happily and return home safely. Here are some personal insights to share with everyone.
Many of these rules are common knowledge, but the key lies in following them—not just by yourself, but encouraging others to do the same. Only then can our cycling be: Safe!!! Healthy!!! and Fun!!!
