Richard Dunn is a classic example of such a person. Earlier this month, he was stuck at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. To pass the time, he lip-synced to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” and filmed it, then posted it on Vimeo. The video went viral online, causing quite a stir.
Play games
Earlier this month, Daniel Wellsmar from Austin, Texas, and his friends were stuck at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. He recalled, “Originally, the eight of us started playing catch, and it eventually turned into a full-on game.”
Hide yourself
Sometimes “just observing other people” can actually be quite rewarding. Training consultant Nick Holloway found that to be true while waiting at London Stansted Airport.
At the time, he happened to see a woman who, despite wearing a bright yellow dress and holding a smiley-face balloon, couldn’t hide her “sad and lonely” expression. Nick guessed, “She did it either for someone who was late—or maybe because that person was never coming.”
When he saw her cover her face with the balloon, he couldn’t help but take a photo.
Make the most of the lounge
Meanwhile, some travelers actually look forward to flight delays. Freddy Sherman, a luxury travel blogger, is so fond of the amenities at Istanbul Atatürk International Airport’s CIP lounge that he’s grown to hate boarding. The lounge features a spacious billiards area and even a simulated golf course.
Freddy admitted, “I’ve traveled a lot and been in many airport lounges, but the sights, food, and activities here truly amaze me. In fact, I’m now kind of hoping my flight gets delayed so I can stay longer in that lounge.”
