The traveler’s journey continues in Yunlin as we head to the area near Doumen Railway Station, ready to explore the legendary spot rumored to offer free comics, picture books, movies... a high-quality attraction where you can feast your eyes to your heart's content... Yes... you read that right, and there's no need to doubt it—right next to Doumen Railway Station in Yunlin lies a super-popular cultural park~

This park was originally an unused old warehouse at Doumen Railway Station, but Yunlin County Government has put great effort into giving it a new look, creating a cluster of uniquely themed venues.[Family Travel] Indoor Attractions for Rainy Days: Tailifu Cultural Picture Book ParkThus forming today’s featured destination: the ‘Taliwu Cultural Park.’ Huh...?? Taliwu? Taliwu? Taliwu? What on earth does it mean?? Hehe, actually, this was also the big question mark that popped into Sister Xi’s head the first time she heard the name?? This very unique name “Taliwu”—after consulting the mighty Google, it turns out... that “Taliwu” is the former name of Doumen, derived from the Taliwu Society of the Hoanya people (a branch of the Pingpu indigenous group), and it’s a small rural town rich in culture and fertile farmland. Within the Taliwu Cultural Park, there are a total of five venues, each with different functions and features... One of them, the ‘Taliwu Comic Museum,’ is the main venue Sister Xi wanted to visit this time, because... Jack, it’s really magical. How so? When it comes to reading comics, it’s been one of Sister Xi’s favorite hobbies since childhood—whether it’s shoujo, detective, romance, horror, thriller... she loves all kinds of comics, and that’s totally normal... So when she heard there’s a Taliwu Comic Museum right next to Doumen Railway Station where you can read comics for free, isn’t it worth paying a pilgrimage here? (It’s basically... a thrifty auntie thinking that not having to pay to rent comics is just the best~~~???~) Alright, now that Sister Xi has explained it all—everyone must be rubbing their hands together, ready to charge into the Taliwu Comic Museum with me to pick a comic, chill in the air conditioning, and blissfully immerse themselves in the world of comics, right?! Then let me take you on a tour of the Taliwu Cultural Park—you’ll see that this park is absolutely packed with rewarding experiences.
[Taliwu Comic Museum]
Hehe, as mentioned earlier, Sister Xi came to the Taliwu Cultural Park mainly for the Taliwu Comic Museum~ (phew~ what a tongue twister~) So, first, ask Martin to drop me off in front of the venue, and let me walk into the Taliwu Comic Museum with a heart full of anticipation.

Of course... the Taliwu Comic Museum has opening hours—remember the times, or you might come up empty-handed. Taliwu Comic Museum, Taliwu Picture Book Museum
Opening Hours: AM 09:00–12:00, PM 01:00–06:00
Closed: Mondays and Tuesdays
When entering the Taliwu Comic Museum, remember to follow the signs to take off your shoes on the side before entering the reading area. The Taliwu Comic Museum mainly features Japanese comics (Sister Xi’s favorite~~), with tens of thousands of volumes available for everyone to read for free. (Seriously... is it really this generous??) The interior is bright and spacious, and since it’s near Doumen Railway Station, you can even watch trains speed past right beside you.

[Tailifu Picture Book House]
Next, we head to the Tailifu Picture Book House, located right next to the comic museum. This is also one of the high-quality venues highly recommended by Sister Xi. Just like the comic museum, remember to take off your shoes before entering the picture book house and place them in the uniquely designed shoe lockers in front of you~ (But... if you’re wearing long boots in winter, how on earth are you supposed to fit them in those lockers? No idea.) Step inside the picture book house and take a look around—the overall design is playful and child-friendly, with vibrant colors that give the space an energetic vibe... It’s also a great place to help children develop a love for reading from a young age... Although the kids in Sister Xi’s family are all holed up in the comic museum next door, the walls of both the comic and picture book houses are covered in large colorful murals. These artworks vividly bring the colorful worlds from picture books to life. What’s special is... the Tailifu Picture Book House has an English book section, established in memory of the late Ye Xiaomei. Ye Xiaomei loved English books and dreamed of becoming an English teacher when she grew up. Netizens generously donated English picture books to create this special section—wishing that... joyful reading can dry up tears of sorrow. Outside the Tailifu Picture Book House, there’s a sandbox specially designed for little ones. My little girl was so excited when she saw the sandbox that she ran straight in and had a blast playing... Alright, let’s continue our stroll through the Tailifu Cultural Park and see what other surprises await us up ahead. [68 Cinema]
Next, let’s step into the 68 Cinema. Here... you can watch free movies to your heart’s content~ The ‘2015 Yunlin Film Festival’ has been screening since the 12th at the 68 Cinema in the Tailifu Cultural Park in Douliu. This year, there are 24 themed films from 10 different countries, along with 6 sessions of post-screening talks by directors and experts. Interested friends can check it out. And behind the black curtain on the left in the photo is a medium-sized cinema where a movie is currently playing~
[Yunlin Environmental Education Center]
Next, let’s step into the Yunlin Environmental Education Center, where we can learn all about the unique environmental features of Yunlin County. The center has plenty of interactive games that help us better understand Yunlin, the agricultural capital. Yes... all of these wonderful attractions are located within the Tailifu Cultural Park... Come and pay this place a visit soon!
The Douliu Railway Station is located right next to the Tailifu Cultural Park, so for those of you interested in visiting the cultural park, taking the train is a convenient option. And beside Douliu Railway Station... hmm... this... the train engine that looks like it’s ready to soar into the sky really stole Sister Xi’s heart—so uplifting~ Sister Xi just wants to let everyone know that today’s article is once again coming to an end~ I really love this wonderful attraction, and I’m sharing it with all of you.
