Another New Highlight in Kaohsiung, the Harbor City!! Yes~ Today, Sister Xi is taking you all back to her hometown again. Kaohsiung, hehe, let’s go search for that legendary hidden rainbow church. Huh…?? What rainbow church? And it’s hidden? Since when did Kaohsiung get a new attraction like this?
Hehehe, to be honest, Sister Xi used to think the same as everyone else—what rainbow church in Kaohsiung?? All I knew was that Kaohsiung’s most famous church was the Catholic Basilica of the Holy Rosary. (The one on Wufu Road... ) Sister Ji—tsk tsk tsk (shaking finger~), but things are never as simple as they seem... Because, just recently... right next to the Qijin Shell Museum in Kaohsiung, two brand-new, brightly colored scenic installations actually appeared.
And one of them is today’s target: the Rainbow Church. To be frank, these two new installations aren’t very big, but their geometric shapes and seaside location make them look just like a rainbow church rising from the sea. I can only say, the sea and sky blend seamlessly—it’s really... perfect for photos (gazing into the distance~). Whether it’s couples taking sweet photos, professional bridal photoshoots, or even us passersby who came here after hearing about it... As soon as we arrived and saw these two new installations!! Without hesitation, those with DSLRs took out their DSLRs, those with compact cameras took out their compacts, those with phones took out their phones—if you had nothing at all, don’t panic!! Alright, then let me take you all on a little trip to go admire the rainbow church where sea and sky become one.
PS: Even though I’m running out of words, I still have to explain—according to the latest info, a friend who went to the spot yesterday (0713, Monday) was told by a bridal studio that this installation is self-built, so entry is prohibited. But I think taking photos from the outside should be fine, right? Yes, everyone, remember, these two new installations are located right next to the Qijin Shell Museum—that is, on the opposite side of the terrifying giant shell, Sea Pearl. Look~ walk to the end of the shell museum, and the colorful, geometrically beautiful scene appears before Sister Xi’s eyes. So exciting!! The reason these two installations exist is that a bridal studio in Kaohsiung leased the almost-deserted Qijin Shell Museum from the tourism bureau and spent tens of millions renovating it into a large-scale bridal photo studio. (But calling the Qijin Shell Museum a deserted place isn’t quite right, because to Sister Xi, the shell museum has super strong AC—such a nice place on a hot seaside, basically heaven, okay?) As the saying goes, although these are just two pieces of art, being by the Qijin coast, the sea-and-sky view is truly breathtaking... Coming to the Qijin coast that day, maybe because Typhoon Chan-Hom had just left, the strong winds blew Sister Xi’s skirt all out of shape—if she watched the front, she couldn’t watch the back, and if she watched the back... the front of her skirt would fly right up!! At that moment, Sister Xi’s look... well, it’s normal. I thought the day would be gray and gloomy since the typhoon had just passed, phew~ but in the end, thank heavens, I got blue skies and white clouds... That gorgeous blue sky got me sunburned (I’m already pretty dark, okay?)—even if I got dizzy from the sun, it’d be worth it, just for this beautiful sight. Look~~ For Sister Xi, being in the same frame as such beauty is simply such a happy thing...??? (Big smile + lotus fingers) And this simple, geometrically shaped rainbow church has a pool around it filled with water, blending seamlessly with the distant beach, making the sea-and-sky view feel just like a beach vacation—but it’s attracting lots of visitors to take photos and capture the most beautiful memories, and I... am one of them. I told the little girl this was a rainbow church, and she turned to her mommy and asked... “So can we ask a priest to say Mass here??” Hmm... probably not. At the end of the rainbow church, there’s actually a small cross, integrated with the church’s frame—if not for the color difference, you really wouldn’t be able to tell. But just being able to take photos around the rainbow church is satisfying enough Up... Alright!! After admiring the beautiful sea-and-sky view that the rainbow church offers, do you feel a deep sense of happiness? Then, leaving the rainbow church and heading back to the shell museum to meet up with family, Sister Xi was drawn to these two... umm... shells that look like they’re about to kiss. (Shells about to kiss? Who comes up with these names!) Right, right? Up close, they really do look like two shells about to kiss, didn’t I say so?
