Nestled within Yangmingshan National Park, "Tianlai Resort Hotel" is like a hidden paradise among the lush mountains of Yangmingshan. Though just an hour’s drive from downtown, it offers a serene escape far from the bustle and hustle.
The entire "Tianlai Resort Hotel" faces Beauty Mountain. On clear days, you can clearly see the silhouette of a reclining beauty, presenting different views from sunny days to those when clouds gather and winds rise.
The European-style Building Caoshan Rooms also bring this greenery into the room design, using forest-inspired tones to create a natural and relaxing atmosphere.
The wooden carvings on the walls bring the spirits of the mountains into the room, infusing the metaphor of nature with vitality while maintaining its serene comfort. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer mountain views from one side of the guest rooms and sightlines to the sky-blue-tinted year-round swimming pool from the other. Gazing out, you’ll see over ten types of hot and cold springs and a splash zone waiting to be explored — the little ones are bound to be excited, like the birds painted on the walls ready to take flight.
Check-in time is at 3:00 PM. To allow guests to fully enjoy the hotel’s various facilities, the hotel thoughtfully offers luggage storage starting at 10:00 AM, so you can begin experiencing the amenities right upon arrival. You can even continue using the facilities until 2:00 PM after check-out.
Now, let’s step into the “Tianlai Discovery,” a paradise that brings peace to parents and joy to the little ones!
The top highlight? When the little ones start bouncing and running around, the first place they’ll rush to is definitely the splash zone in the SPA Water World. With slides of varying heights, it’s perfect for kids of different ages and courage levels!
A must-praise point: unlike typical water parks that use chlorinated water, this is much safer for children!
Next to the slides, there’s a large waterfall that operates on weekends — another favorite water feature among the little ones!
Meanwhile, the outdoor hot spring baths are exactly where parents will want to head first!
Although not suitable for drinking, according to research by Japanese hot spring institutions,…The hotel carefully maintains the hot springs at a comfortable temperature and also offers cold springs. There are a total of 13 types of thermal pools. Soaking in these baths is the perfect way for hardworking parents to enjoy a comfortable summer. During the summer vacation, the outdoor hot springs are open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM — you can soak anytime from morning till bedtime. (Friendly reminder: it’s recommended to rest for at least 30 minutes after meals before entering the baths.)
Although there are hot springs in Northern Taiwan such as in Beitou and Yilan, the source here is less than one kilometer from Tianlai, making it somewhat of a hidden hot spring gem. Coupled with the private and open surroundings of the “Tianlai Resort Hotel,” the view while soaking is breathtaking, with distant vistas of Yangmingshan.
Tianlai’s outdoor hot springs feature a variety of pools. With simple designs and the use of natural materials like wood and stone, they beautifully integrate the surrounding mountain scenery into the hot spring experience. In addition to hot spring pools, cold water pools, ice water pools, and bubble massage pools, there’s also a unique shower jet pool. Tired parents can comfortably lie on the marble platform and let the descending waterfall of warm water cascade over their bodies — the ultimate relaxation!
There’s also a fish exfoliation pool within the natural ecosystem — the little ones absolutely love this experience too. As the light changes and with nighttime lighting, the outdoor hot springs take on different moods.
Here’s a little secret: after heavy rain, plenty of natural hot spring mineral mud flows in — a pure, natural skincare treasure. Regular bathers often coat themselves in it, enjoying not only the skin-beautifying effects of the mildly acidic sulfur springs but also a free full-body mud mask!
Swimsuits are required in the outdoor hot springs. But for parents who prefer mixed-gender nude bathing, you can indulge too — just go through that small wooden door for the co-ed hot springs!
Walking up from the Water World, you’ll find a hidden gem: three private open-air hot spring huts that few notice. Facing beautiful mountain views and equipped with individual lounge chairs, these are perfect for parents to sneak in some quiet relaxation, day or night. (It’s quite dreamy, isn’t it?)
Aside from the outdoor hot springs, next to the Water World’s slides in a glass house, there are four additional pools, including those with varying frequency (temperature) levels and an ice-cold pool. One unique feature is the mid-frequency pool, which uses precision equipment to generate extremely fine bubbles — the water turns milky white and is poetically called the “Snowflake Wellness Pool,” though regulars simply call it the “Milk Pool.”
Each pool offers a massage effect. The controls are usually buttons located by the poolside, very convenient. After enjoying the outdoor hot springs, come here to try a different soaking experience!
Beyond soaking, there’s another spot that parents absolutely love for relaxation: the Moon Pool is not only spring-fed but also an energy pool. Lying back and gazing at the blue sky and distant mountains is truly refreshing.
Looking down from above, the Moon Pool is shaped like a full moon — doesn’t it feel full of energy? (Immerse yourself…)
If the little ones still aren’t satisfied with the Water World’s splash zone and want to keep playing, they can bring their own water toys and floaties to the year-round swimming pool to stretch out. Popular “inflatable mounts” like swans, flamingos, or unicorns might just make an appearance here!
The year-round pool has a surrounding lazy river, perfect for the little ones (and parents) to “casually” enjoy the water. All water pools require swimsuits for entry. The SPA Water World has a swimwear shop for guests who need to buy one on-site.
The year-round pool also boasts beautiful mountain views, and from one side, you can even spot European-style villas in the distance, like being in a quaint European village.
For parents who are tired out from the children’s play area in the SPA Water World, nearby water therapy features like shoulder massage jets offer instant stress relief.
Also, while rock bed baths elsewhere may cost thousands, you can save here. (And with rock bed baths available, steam rooms and saunas are naturally included. The steam room is in the SPA Water World, while the sauna is in the outdoor hot spring area. But usually… you’ll want to try the rock bed bath first!)
The SPA Water World is open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM daily from July to February — you’re sure to find time to enjoy it!
With so many types of hot springs — whether it’s the outdoor hot springs, SPA Water World, or the rock bed bath — moms might already be thinking about how to discuss plans with dad (whether through sweet persuasion or requests, depending on mom’s style, haha). Besides family time in the water or hot springs, you can also take turns watching the kids while mom and dad each enjoy the outdoor hot springs and SPA Water World.
At night, once the little ones are asleep, it’s also a great time for a relaxing soak. The latest entry time is 11:00 PM, and you can soak until midnight.
Outdoor Hot SpringsEvery Mondayfrom 13:00 to 18:00 for maintenance and is closed during this time. Also, the Water World, Year-Round Pool, and Lazy River may be under maintenance on certain mornings during your stay and thus closed. Please refer to on-site announcements, and ask the front desk upon check-in. Plan the order and timing of your various experiences to ensure you don’t miss out on any of the fun.
A 90% real / Starting from 2 until 8/31, renovation work on the indoor sauna on the basement floor of the European-style pavilion will be carried out. During construction hours from 09:00 to 17:00, unavoidable construction noise may occur. We sincerely ask for your understanding.
However, there’s more to enjoy at Tianlai – let’s keep exploring!
First, a quick interlude with two Thoughtfully prepared healthy afternoon tea treats, available from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, perfect for whenever you need a break during playtime. The healthy afternoon tea is served at the café in “Good Things Market,” located next to the lobby, featuring freshly blended juices (with just a tiny bit of water added) and a variety of cakes.
Following the philosophy of natural and healthy eating, all meals at Tianlai are seasoned very simply to allow guests to enjoy the authentic flavors of the ingredients. As such, the juices are almost sugar-free, the cakes are lightly sweet, and the fruits are washed using the brand’s “Fruit Clean Once” washing powder, making them very safe for children. Additionally, a DIY activity — “Perler Beads” — is included as a gift. This DIY activity has a magical effect: even lively kids might quiet down here as they focus on their bead designs. (Now you know where to bring them for some peace and quiet, haha!) The instructor on-site is very friendly and can guide both parents and children through the DIY process and provide care for the little ones!
Perler Beads – there are so many patterns available online, and eagle-eyed visitors will quickly spot where our editor auntie got her design from… Just choosing a pattern involved a moment of hesitation because there were so many adorable options. In the end, she went with the rainbow that caught her eye at first glance. (The matching white clouds are the highlight!)
During the Perler Bead activity, the instructor also helped find the right colors. Here’s a little tip: since the beads come in a rich variety of colors — for example, there might be two or three shades of yellow or green — it’s best to decide on your colors beforehand, or you might end up switching midway like our editor auntie did… (That can be quite the task!)
Once your favorite design is complete, the instructor will help fuse the beads together with an iron and then string them onto a keychain. This step requires a bit of technique — moms and dads can try it too. The finished rainbow cloud keychain gives a great sense of accomplishment every time you look at it, and it’s ready to use right away — what an unexpected little gift. The hotel also offers paid DIY workshops, including a “Taiwan Cypress Woodworking Course” for NT$1,600 per pair of clogs, with a limit of 10 participants per session. To sign up, please inquire at the leisure services desk. Compared to similar offerings on the market, this woodworking course is reasonably priced, and the selected Taiwan cypress is a rare wood species. Its grain features a rich, colorful hue like a rainbow cloud, and it is the only tree species in the world named after Taiwan. Along with ginkgo and red cypress, it is considered a world-class precious wood. Tianlai is fortunate to be the only hotel currently authorized to use Taiwan cypress, and the only one in Taiwan legally permitted to offer DIY wooden clog workshops with this material. For those who love woodworking, this rare wood is not to be missed.
Depending on the season, different crops are grown on the farm. When our editor auntie visited, the most abundant produce was pumpkins and cucumbers. In the morning, you can see pumpkin flowers blooming — absolutely beautiful!
Cucumbers can be picked fresh, rinsed with water, and eaten right away, offering a naturally sweet flavor that proves “natural is truly the best.” The growing crops might look different from what kids are used to seeing on their “dinner tables,” and there are also various insects in the ecosystem, providing immediate opportunities for education through fun.
Many of the ingredients used in the restaurants at “Tianlai Resort Hotel” come from the hotel’s own “Happy Farm.” Recently, the abundant produce includes pumpkins, cucumbers, and loofahs — just wash them, and their natural sweetness is enough to make delicious dishes. The concept of “natural” in food is evident with just one taste. Not only do you enjoy the mountain views and soak in the mountain springs, but much of what you eat also comes from the mountains, allowing you to share in nature and feel refreshed.
Due to five years of continuous farming, this year the land is being left fallow for partial rest to rejuvenate the soil. However, there will still be planting activities for kids to experience in July and August. Since no herbicides or pesticides are used, children can play safely among the grass. Weed-pulling will also be part of the little experience. The entire Happy Farm is surrounded by mountains, and during summer vacation, there will also be ecological tours, combining vacation enjoyment with getting close to nature.
Moms might be wondering — with so many hot spring baths, aside from relaxation,is there an opportunity to try “onsen eggs”?Tianlai thought of that too. By using steam heating, the temperature of the hot spring water can cook eggs. So there are specific opening hours for it. While playing in the water or soaking in the baths, you can also bring the little ones to experience DIY onsen eggs — a fun novelty and a nutritious snack. (You can purchase the “eggs” for the onsen egg experience at the cozy little lodge nearby.)
The grounds of Tianlai feature many lush green paths, plus a large grassy field. There’s Tianlai’s logo here, and many visitors love taking a “I was here” photo. In addition to the various hot spring and bathing facilities and the appeal of the hotel itself, along with the beautiful natural surroundings, many guests also choose to hold outdoor weddings here.
Another soft, large lawn is perfect for trying out fun croquet. There’s also a cherry blossom path and an osmanthus lane. Although you can’t see the cherry blossoms at this time of year, cherry blossom enthusiasts can tell from the thickness of the trunks that these trees have been planted for many years. The osmanthus lane offers a pleasant fragrance — take a whiff as you pass by. A family evening stroll here is a simple kind of happiness.
If you’re still full of energy after all of this, there are other recreational facilities for parents and children to enjoy together. Outdoors, there’s mini golf, basketball courts, badminton, archery, and bowling. Indoors, there’s a gym, a kids’ playroom, billiards, table tennis, and a puzzle game room. Opening hours can be found on the official website or by asking on-site.
The package includes breakfast for the next morning (for two adults and two children), served in the Radiant Hall, which features three-story high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. With bright morning light streaming in, you can enjoy a buffet breakfast with views of the mountains and water. Both Chinese and Western options are available, and even vegetarians are well catered to, with a wide variety of dishes, including locally produced ingredients like Jinshan sweet potatoes — all made with natural, healthy ingredients and seasonings, ensuring peace of mind with every bite.
To give guests more flexible choices, this package does not include dinner, allowing you to choose freely. Some regular guests might head to Jinshan or Wanli to sample local snacks, while there are also several restaurants within Tianlai. Among them, the Blue Magpie Pavilion is especially popular with small families. Both adults and children can share individual or set pasta, risotto, or beef noodles. Our editor auntie had it twice and was amazed by the flavor. They also offer delicious vegetarian pasta — a great option to consider.
Aside from Western cuisine, there are Chinese set meals or à la carte options in the Radiant Hall.During the summer vacation, Tianlai also specially arranges a Starry Sky BBQ every Saturday evening.Guests staying on weekends can also try this out for a unique experience!
Aside from being super fun, offering great soaking experiences, delicious food, and a natural environment, you’ll also discover many thoughtful little details in the guest rooms at Tianlai.
For example, the bath products are from the cultural creative brand “Just Right,” made with natural ingredients and craftsmanship. The shampoo and conditioner “Forest Wash” have a light cherry blossom scent. The body wash “Rice Cleanse” is made from Taitung Guanshan rice, and the body lotion “True Nourish” features lemon and lavender. Additionally, bath sponges are provided, and the toothbrushes come in four different colors for easy distinction. For hot spring soaking, there are yukata robes with a mountain cherry blossom pattern, as well as outdoor slippers. Beyond the unique bath amenities, parents traveling with young children can also pre-book children’s supplies from Tianlai — offered free of charge but limited in quantity, so early booking is recommended. These include baby cribs, crib rails, baby bathtubs, baby bottle sterilizers, child toilet seats, and strollers for outdoor use. The range is wider than at most hotels — truly very thoughtful.
Every guest room is equipped with a Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsule coffee machine. Enjoying a rich cup of coffee on the small sofa while admiring the mountain view is another kind of relaxing pleasure. And additionally, this package comes with a hidden, super cool little gift:Pokémon soda water. Each room gets two randomly selected bottles. If several families or friends are traveling together, you can trade collections!
If you, like Tianlai, want to support local cultural and creative natural goods, or if you try them and love them enough to use every day, or if you’d like to take some home as souvenirs — don’t miss a visit to the Good Things Market. Aside from eco-art items, it also features utensils, tote bags, and design products that emphasize local or natural and eco-friendly materials. There are also food items, such as Tianlai’s exclusive handmade soy milk (delicious, and available at the Radiant Hall’s breakfast buffet — try it before you buy!)
Additionally, there are co-branded products supporting wildlife conservation. Besides being keepsakes, they also carry the educational value of supporting public welfare.
In the nature-focused Tianlai Park, you can commonly spot 15–20 species of birds. Their souvenirs are also available at Haoshi Market. Since the entire resort of Tianlai Vacation Hotel is very “natural,” various insects and animals feel very comfortable living here. You’ll naturally encounter different kinds of birds or small insects, and hopefully, you might even spot the rare blue magpie. This environment offers a great opportunity to teach your kids how to coexist peacefully with animals. If you come across unfamiliar insects, you can also ask the Tianlai staff — let’s explore the wonders of nature together.
The “Explore Tianlai, Have Tons of Fun” package offers plenty of great deals for summer stays, including exclusive discounts with two super popular family-friendly restaurants — “Mr. Tree’s Home” and “MONEY JUMP”! There are also lucky draw activities!
Additionally, every Saturday during the summer vacation, there will be special evening poolside performances with different shows each week — such as passionate fire dance shows, exotic flamenco, magical bubble performances, acrobatic diabolo acts by the Tiger Troupe, and trendy street dance — all enjoyed under the summer night breeze for a relaxing time.

Many parents say, with so many hot springs, water play areas, outdoor views, evening performances, DIY activities, and a happy farm, how can we possibly finish everything in just one overnight stay?
One overnight stay really isn’t enough to enjoy it all. If you have the time for a three-day-two-night trip, you’ll also have time to join the specially arranged tours that Tianlai Vacation Hotel has partnered with nearby attractions for. (Yes, even more fun things to do!)
Transportation to “Tianlai Vacation Hotel” is very convenient. In addition to driving yourself, you can take the Royal Bus directly to the hotel entrance. Or if you’re taking the Kuo-Kuang Bus, the hotel also provides shuttle service!
There are only 500 limited units of Grass Mountain Rooms available, but we must recommend that you also check out other fantastic room types at “Tianlai Vacation Hotel” for premium upgrade options that parents will love.
It’s also a room type with two queen beds, featuring a loft-style layout, and the interior design incorporates mountain-inspired elements!
Aside from the boat house theme, the room comes with a PS4 for your use. (Get ready for the excited cheers from the little ones.)
In the Fairy Tale Forest Six-Person Room, not only are there tree-themed decorations, but the cozy cabin also thoughtfully includes safety railings. Moreover, this year the painted backdrop was redesigned by an artist. The tree decorations also feature exquisitely carved owl wooden artworks!
We believe many kids would love to have a home just like this fairy tale forest. (Or maybe it’s a dream for mom or dad.) Even if your home can’t be decorated just like this, you can still enjoy it when you visit Tianlai on vacation. (Yes, there’s an Xbox in the fairy tale forest room too!) The spacious area is perfect for families to have fun together.
The bathroom in the fairy tale forest-themed room is equally detailed — can you guess what animal the mirror frame resembles? That’s right, it’s a gorilla!
For both of these two themed rooms, if two families are staying together, there’s also an external door that can be closed off to create a private space. Both theme rooms are limited to just one unit each, so bookings are in high demand — book quickly!
The Japanese-Style Pavilion uses a lot of red and gold tones, offering a different atmosphere compared to the European-Style Pavilion. Most importantly, each room in the Japanese-Style Pavilion has its own private semi-open-air hot spring. For guests who value privacy or wish to soak in the tub with their family inside the room, upgrading to a Japanese-Style Four-Person Room is a great choice — and the mountain view is absolutely stunning!
If you’ve decided to grab the “Tianlai Special Experience Package,” hurry up and place your order now!
