South Korea’s Viral Cafés Have Arrived in Taiwan: A Comic-Style Black-and-White Restaurant

South Korea’s popular check-in café CAFE Yannamdong 239-20, known for its black-and-white comic-style decor that sparked a trend, now has a counterpart in Taipei. Stephens Curry Specialty Store, located near the Taipei Metro National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall Station, has recently revamped its interior space from European style to a Korean-themed black-and-white comic restaurant, attracting netizens to visit and take photos.

The shop owner used black-and-white tones and line doodles to create a black-and-white comic world, making you feel as if you’ve stepped into a Korean drama scene. They also offer balloons for customers to use in their photos.

The dishes are also highly favored. The signature curry rice features a unique flavor and hearty portions, with options for turmeric or white rice. Among them, the most popular is “The Fried Rice Dreaming in the Sky,” where whipped egg whites are puffed up like clouds, with a half-cooked egg yolk placed in the center. When sliced open, golden egg yolk juice flows out.
