Finalists Announced: Hokkaido’s Ultra-Cool Winter Work & Travel Program

In winter, when snowflakes flurry across Hokkaido, the region’s exciting snow season activities, breathtaking icy landscapes, and exclusive seasonal foods make it the top-ranked snow tourism destination. This year, JR Hokkaido Railway Company and the Hokkaido Tourism Promotion Organization have jointly launched the “Hokkaido Ultra-Cool Winter Work & Travel Recruitment Program,” encouraging young people to embrace the courage to explore the unknown in the snowy expanse of the north.

This ultimate “cold” job will announce its selected participants on November 21st at the 3rd floor of Eslite Bookstore Xinyi Store in Taipei after going through multiple selection rounds. A “Hokkaido Ultra-Cool Journey Talk Session” will also be held, inviting railway expert Sei Yasizaki—who has traveled across mountains and seas exploring Hokkaido—travel expert Huang Yuyun, Deputy Manager of the Japan National Tourism Organization Taiwan Office, and food expert Li Ruoyan, Vice Editor-in-Chief of AZ Magazine, to deliver tiered lectures. These will offer travel tips on how to use trains and rental cars for outdoor ultra-cold adventures, tailored separately for first-timers and seasoned repeat visitors to Hokkaido.

The public eager to experience the beauty of the north can join the event to share travel stories with the experts. On-site prizes include round-trip air tickets to Sapporo, 3-day-2-night free travel packages, JR Hokkaido Railway Passes, and various other great giveaways—just by showing up, you could win big prizes. Additionally, Japan Railways Hokkaido will bring two stamps from Wakkanai and Biei Stations from far away, and free stamping paper will also be provided on-site so everyone can get beautifully stamped memorable souvenirs.
