Exploring the Alishan Trails: Immerse Yourself in Deep Autumn Forest Bathing::2009::Prize-Winning Essay Contest Worth NT$10,000

In deep autumn, Alishan is bathed in a blend of golden and crimson hues from the maple leaves; the famed sunrise and sea of clouds still shine with mesmerizing brilliance... When Alishan is mentioned, one can't help but think of the Taiwanese folk song "Alisan Qing (High Mountains Are Green)." Among this most popular scenic spot for both domestic and international tourists, beautiful mountain views such as spring cherry blossoms, sunrises, sea of clouds, sacred trees, and railways offer ever-changing spectacles that never fail to amaze.

Within Alishan National Scenic Area, every corner presents a breathtaking view that could be straight out of an idol drama. This year’s “Alishan Trail Walks” event, themed “Love. Trails. Alishan,” kicks off with the “Alishan Mood Story Photo & Essay Submission.” Participants just need to upload one photo along with a short essay of 80–300 words to join the competition. The first prize is a cash award of NT$10,000, plus two nights’ worth NT$1,000 in Alishan lodging. The submission deadline is January 30—don’t miss your chance.

In addition to the essay contest, starting at 10:00 AM on November 22, the management office will hold a “Trail Creative Experience” activity at the northern entrance of the “Mihu Trail” in Leye, Alishan (at km 66 on Provincial Highway 18). On that day, local indigenous children will serve as junior guides to introduce the Mihu Trail, and fun obstacle games will be designed. Participants who successfully complete the challenges will not only receive the “Cool Cards” of nine recommended trails promoted by the office this year, but also have the opportunity to collect a limited-edition set of badges.

For food lovers, the organizers have prepared “Tsou Tribe Golden Crispy Roast Mountain Pig,” “bamboo tube rice,” and snacks, along with winter high-mountain tea produced by the Alishan Township Farmers’ Association.
