Beyond just cruising the world to savor delicious cuisine, learning to cook alongside Michelin-starred chefs aboard a cruise ship offers a fresh take on seafaring adventures. The ultra-luxury cruise company Silversea Cruises, in an exclusive partnership with Relais & Châteaux, proudly unveils its new interactive culinary academy, L'École des Chefs, featuring a variety of unique maritime gastronomic journeys this year.

Led by Silversea’s Executive Chef David Bilsland, the Relais & Châteaux L'École des Chefs academy presents distinctive culinary classes and entertainment activities this year. Each onboard program is thoughtfully curated to reflect the cultural essence of the journey. Courses include hands-on culinary workshops such as basic knife skills, kitchen terminology, sauce preparation, roasting techniques, chef demonstrations, and wine pairings. The executive chef will also engage in live cooking challenges with the ship’s culinary team, treating small groups of passengers to exquisitely prepared dishes.

On select voyages, Silversea also offers the “Market to the Plate” experience, where guests are guided through local markets followed by a cooking class. Additionally, there’s the “Culinary Outing” activity, where participants explore unique dining spots such as authentic restaurants, hotels, or other venues under the guidance of an expert.

Selected L'École des Chefs journeys will also feature renowned Silversea wine consultant Lyn Farmer as a guest. A James Beard Foundation award-winning wine and food writer, Lyn is passionate about exploring diverse cultures and sharing her knowledge of wine and cuisine. She will host lectures, wine tastings, and offer tips on food and wine pairing as part of Silversea’s onboard wine journey series.

Silversea’s itineraries this year span Africa, the Indian Ocean, Alaska, the Pacific Coast, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Panama Canal, the Far East and South Pacific, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, South America, and transatlantic crossings. The listed fares for the 2010 L'École des Chefs journeys are per person, based on double occupancy in a Vista Suite, and exclude port fees and service charges.
