Lantern Festival Light Displays and Theme Park Discounts at 8 Locations Nationwide

The much-awaited "2010 Taiwan Lantern Festival" officially commenced on the evening of February 28, the Yuanxiao Festival, at Chiayi Park in Chiayi City. This year’s event moves beyond the conventional single-site lantern display, spreading the illumination across the bustling heart of Chiayi City to create an even more spectacular experience. In addition to the Tiger Year centerpiece lantern "Fortune Descends upon the Island" and four accompanying lanterns — "Qilin Bestows Auspiciousness," "Dragon Plays with Tiger Praying for Blessings," "Auspicious Phoenix Soars Aloft," and "Turtle Leaps Across the River and Sea" — eight top-tier theme parks across Taiwan have also rolled out vibrant and colorful lantern float celebrations. These feature their most iconic rides and themed mascots.

The Yuanxiao Festival is one of Taiwan’s three major traditional holidays, celebrated with distinctive local festivities around the country. This year's lantern zones have been specially designed to incorporate elements of Chiayi’s history and character. For example, the main lantern platform evokes the classic imagery of old Chiayi as the “Peach City beneath Zhuluo Mountain.” The "Zhuluo Era Dinosaurs" lantern zone plays on the homophone of Chiayi’s former name, “Zhuluo,” and utilizes the existing site environment to craft a prehistoric Jurassic ambiance through landscape design and lighting, attracting crowds with its adorable dinosaur figures.

At the Taiwan Lantern Festival, various theme parks are offering ticket discounts. For example, during the festival period, Little World Theme Park offers on-site tickets at a discounted price of NT$399. Leofoo Village Theme Park has launched a "Give Back to Locals, Play More Time for NT$500" package that includes: a full-day pass to Leofoo Village, a premium meal at Leofoo Prince Hotel plus a night entry ticket for just NT$500, and an all-you-can-eat buffet at Naisi Prince Hotel in Chiayi for NT$500. Six Flags Theme Park gives visitors joining as members on-site a NT$620 discount coupon for ride tickets. Ocean Park offers NT$300 in cash vouchers when purchasing two full-price tickets.

Meanwhile, Yue Mei Amusement World is offering exploration park tickets bundled with Marina Bay for NT$899. Doraemon Science Theme Park is running a "Buy One Get One Free" ticket promotion, selling two entries for NT$400 along with a piggy bank and a DIY leaf vein bookmark. The Tayal Resort is selling entry tickets on-site for NT$199 during the lantern festival. Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is also hosting a "March Lavender Romance" event to offer visitors a fun and relaxing time at the park.
