The Kaohsiung Music Festival is back in full swing, with 85 artists performing over 10 days!

The Kaohsiung Music Festival is back again. After two consecutive years of thrilling performances in Kaohsiung from 2006 to 2007, this much-anticipated music festival returns after a two-year hiatus, kicking off again on March 12th this year at the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung. This year, the festival has specially invited 85 performing artists to take turns on stage, delivering a marathon 10-day singing relay that will fully showcase the vibrant rock energy of southern Taiwan.

The Pier-2 Art Center is located right next to Kaohsiung’s most popular West Harbor Bicycle Path. From Exit 1 of Yanchengpu Station on the Kaohsiung MRT Orange Line, it’s just about a five-minute walk west along Dayong Road. This area is a dynamic hub for Kaohsiung’s music, art, experimental creativity, and design culture. This year’s music festival features five major themed zones, including music, film screenings, and creative markets, among various other activities. The themed zones are named “Moonlight Stage,” “Starry Light Stage,” “Dawn Stage,” “Aurora Stage,” and “Earth Stage.” In addition to musical performances, there will also be stalls of various styles and delicious snacks available on-site.

The “2010 Kaohsiung Music Festival” will last for 10 days, featuring an impressive lineup of top local bands such as Sodagreen, Tizzy Bac, Crowd Lu, Won Fu, Fire EX., and Chthonic, alongside internationally renowned rock bands from Europe, the United States, Japan, China, and more. Chthonic, who have long been dedicated to breaking down the north-south rock music divide, will embark on a new tour across the UK in April with completely refreshed performances. Their exclusive preview performance, the only one in Taiwan, can only be seen at the Kaohsiung Music Festival!

This grand event, bringing together dream bands and creative musicians from across Taiwan, Europe, the U.S., and Japan, will kick up a storm of independent rock music from southern Taiwan right by the docks in Kaohsiung.
