Kintai Bridge spans the Nishiki River and boasts an elegant structure that is breathtaking from any angle. Every spring, the banks of the Nishiki River burst into bloom with cherry blossoms, creating a sea of pale pink. Kikuhara Park is a vast green space situated between Yamaguchi Castle and Kintai Bridge. The park is planted with 3,000 cherry trees and attracts large crowds of tourists who come to relax and have picnics under the blooming canopies during cherry blossom season. The 3,000 lush Somei Yoshino cherry trees sway gently in the breeze blowing down the valley, displaying a delicate and charming beauty. Locals have grafted nine-root stocks onto aging Yoshino cherry trees, infusing new life into the old trunks and branches, resulting in more perfect blossoms and foliage. On summer nights in midsummer, the Nishiki River hosts cormorant fishing displays and fireworks shows, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
