Yilongge Chinese Restaurant @ The World's Ultra-Luxurious Peninsula Hotel Shanghai, 2nd Floor
The globally renowned and oldest Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong successfully entered Shanghai’s Bund in October 2009. In addition to creating a luxurious and comfortable environment, the Peninsula Hotel Shanghai is also a temple of exquisite cuisine. Yilongge Chinese Restaurant, helmed by China’s first Michelin-starred chef, Chef Tang Chi-keung, offers high-standard refined Cantonese cuisine, establishing itself as the most iconic destination for Chinese fine dining on the Shanghai Bund, attracting food connoisseurs who seek the ultimate gourmet experience.
The cozy dining environment makes diners feel as if they are dining in their own homes.
Yilongge features a premium tea section, the Chef’s Table, and seven private rooms, ideal for guests who value privacy and wish to enjoy an intimate and enjoyable meal. The overall decor of Yilongge is inspired by the mansions of wealthy Chinese merchants in the 1920s, using peach blossom wood floors, fireplaces, velvet sofas, and large windows to create an atmosphere of elegance and prestige, fully embodying the recent retro-meets-modern vibe of Shanghai’s Bund.
The design of the Western-style private room is inspired by the daughter’s room in a merchant’s mansion.
Yilongge’s head chef, Chef Tang Chi-keung, originally served at the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong’s Gallery restaurant. Later, while at the Hōō restaurant at the Peninsula Tokyo, he earned a one-star rating in the Michelin Tokyo Guide. Now at Yilongge in Shanghai, he continues to bring his signature Cantonese dishes. Chef Tang not only pays meticulous attention to the presentation of each dish but also adheres to traditional Cantonese cooking methods to prepare classic specialties such as Scallop with Black Bean Sauce Stuffed with Assorted Mushrooms, Abalone with Sea Cucumber, and Honey-Garlic Beef Cubes, all of which captivate diners. As for the new dessert — the Sesame Pudding — it’s simply irresistible.
Yilongge Chinese Restaurant also offers spacious dining areas suitable for larger groups.
