Summer Music Festival – The First Taipei Naruwan Cultural Festival
The crisp and resonant voices of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples are set to ring out in Taipei with enthusiasm. The one-month-long first-ever “Naruwan Cultural Festival” kicks off on July 31st, with booths selling agricultural products, cultural and creative items, and handicrafts at Civic Plaza. In the evenings, a series of “Starlight Relay Singing” events will let you experience indigenous culture firsthand.

The “Naruwan Cultural Festival” launched by the Taipei City Government’s Council of Indigenous Peoples features a range of activities. On July 31st at Civic Plaza, there will be sales of specialty products, with a line-up of energetic performances by singers Lee Hsuan-yung, Gao Lei-ya, An Chin-yun, and Dashan starting at 7 PM. On August 1st, the “Indigenous Peoples’ Day Concert” will be held at the National Father Memorial Hall, where the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra will present stories passed down through generations of indigenous communities. Those eager to experience indigenous life can join the “Traditional Physical Competitions” on August 14th to learn unique skills such as archery, weight-carrying, and log sawing. On August 21st, there will also be a fantastic performance at the Gallery Park by indigenous artists such as Samingad Loakepanibaregel, Lomi Ling, Shan Tuyu (Northern Indigenous Mountain Cats), and A-Lin.

Summer is the season for indigenous festivals, and the various events of the “Naruwan Cultural Festival” allow the public to feel the charm and warmth of indigenous cultures. Every event is perfect for family participation.
