Kyushu Sasebo-Hirado Play Information Magazine – Blog Collaboration with Gifts
Since the opening of the port in Nagasaki, Kyushu, the area has been deeply influenced by Western and Chinese cultures. A variety of imported goods and flavors sparked the curiosity of locals, who then embraced and adapted them, eventually becoming the unique characteristics of modern-day Nagasaki. In addition to the renowned Nagasaki castella cake, the city’s hamburgers actually rank first in all of Japan. The 99 islands off Sasebo Port also offer must-buy local specialties. This year, Kyushu launched an official Chinese-language blog called “Kyushu Sasebo-Hirado Nishi-kai Play Broadcasting Station,” aiming to share the hottest food and entertainment news with food enthusiasts.

The famously popular “Sasebo Burger” in Japan originated in Sasebo City, Nagasaki. The hamburger culture brought by the U.S. military took deep root here, turning the city into a “burger town” with over 20 burger shops. Hirado City is also a food lover’s paradise, with its fishing port delivering the freshest seafood daily. Among the ocean’s offerings, fan shrimp, flounder, and the local Hirado beef are the three must-try delicacies. Hirado also boasts a variety of Western-style buildings and churches from the Meiji period, making it perfect for a relaxing stroll.
This summer, Sasebo City and Hirado City are offering a diverse range of exciting activities. The world-renowned Huis Ten Bosch theme park has just opened the world’s largest “Thrill Fantasy Theater.” This horror-themed museum features a haunted house, fantasy light shows, and a terrifying restaurant that will test visitors’ nerves. From now until October 17th, there’s also a special “ONE PIECE” event. Additionally, the Miffy Summer Festival commemorating the 55th anniversary of the beloved bunny character, the food-and-dance-filled “Summer Fantasia,” and an international fireworks competition are all taking place this summer.
