Guofeng Hotel Group Expands into China
The UK-based Guofeng Hotel Group has recently launched its first hotel in China. The newly opened Shanghai Guofeng Hotel is located in Shanghai, China’s most international metropolis, and marks the group’s first hotel outside the UK. The group plans to open 40 to 50 new hotels across Asia over the next five years. Following the opening of the Shanghai Guofeng Hotel, the Beijing Guofeng Hotel will also debut in 2011.
Founded in 2002, the Guofeng Hotel Group currently owns and operates 41 hotels in the UK, Malaysia, and China. Its portfolio includes two well-known brands: the luxury “Guofeng” hotels and the international four-star “Thistle” brand.
The Guofeng brand currently encompasses four luxury hotels housed in historic buildings in central London: Charing Cross, The Cumberland, The Royal Horseguards, and The Tower. The Shanghai Guofeng Hotel features a total of 442 guest rooms of various types, upholding the signature British style and service. A fleet of black London taxis provides airport and meeting transfers, while British-style concierge services offer guests a truly exceptional and renowned hospitality experience. The hotel also offers British butler services, along with themed restaurants and bars under the “GB” motif—representing both Great Britain and the Chinese toast “ganbei.”
